More action ahead as new ring events begin at Playground, Quebec.

The WSOP Super Circuit Canada produced one of its busiest days yet on September 9, with three events completed, the CA$5,000 Main Event reduced to its final nine and the CA$1,500 Monster Stack moving through Day 1 at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec.

Canada remained at the centre of the action. Six Canadians are among the final nine in the Main Event, Jonathan Brazeau won the CA$600 Ultra Stack, and three Canadians finished inside the top four of the CA$25,000 Super High Roller.

Mayukh Chakraborty Leads Main Event Final Nine

The biggest story is the Main Event, where Mayukh Chakraborty heads the latest WSOP LIVE standings with 25,600,000 chips.

American Chance Kornuth is close behind on 24,100,000, while Canadian Jonathan Bussieres sits third with 15,700,000. Felipe Baraky of Brazil has 15,400,000, followed by Canadians Robert Renaud and Benjamin Veenstra.

The field is now down to nine from 2,844 entries, with the tournament having generated a CA$13,082,400 prize pool after comfortably beating its CA$10 million guarantee.

The WSOP LIVE display notes that its information is delayed, so the figures below are the latest displayed counts rather than real-time stacks.

Aaron Quon was the final player eliminated before the nine-handed lineup, finishing 10th for CA$120,000.

That leaves six Canadians chasing the biggest title of the festival. The winner is due CA$1,500,000, with CA$1 million for second, CA$750,000 for third and at least CA$150,000 already secured by every remaining player.

It is another major moment for live poker in Canada, with a home player holding the lead going into the final day of the largest prize pool in WSOP Circuit history.

James Hundt Wins the GGMillion$ High Roller

The CA$14,000 GGMillion$ High Roller also reached its conclusion, with American James Hundt taking the title and CA$425,000.

Carter Mcmahon finished runner-up for CA$285,000, while Anthony Piacquadio completed an all-American top three and earned CA$200,000.

Canada was represented strongly deeper on the final table. Renaud Jacob finished fifth for CA$103,000, Taran Parmar took eighth for CA$48,000, Allen Shen was ninth for CA$38,834 and Sergei Gurin finished 10th for CA$33,000.

Jonathan Brazeau Wins Ultra Stack for CA$126,000

Canada completely dominated the top of the CA$600 Ultra Stack.

Jonathan Brazeau took the title and CA$126,000 after defeating fellow Canadian Srinivas Gottiparthi, who collected CA$83,000.

Diana Shamshoum finished third for CA$60,000, Theodore Doukas was fourth for CA$43,000 and Wille Scott took fifth for CA$32,000, giving Canada a clean sweep of the top five positions.

The result adds another Canadian winner to a festival in which home players have repeatedly featured at the business end of the biggest events.

Michael Wang Takes CA$25,000 Super High Roller

The highest buy-in event of the stop also produced a champion on September 9.

American Michael Wang won the CA$25,000 Super High Roller for CA$230,000. Canadian Charles La Boissonniere finished second for CA$150,000, Nicholas Teeuwen took third for CA$100,000 and Pascal Lefrancois finished fourth for CA$78,720.

Three of the four players in the final payout standings were Canadian, continuing the strong domestic showing across the high-stakes schedule.

Danesh Luthra Leads Monster Stack

Event #13, the CA$1,500 Monster Stack, remains in progress after Day 1.

Canada occupies each of the top six positions in the latest displayed standings. Danesh Luthra leads with 1,500,000, followed by Rami Bargout on 1,400,000 and Jinrong Zhang with 1,300,000.

Main Event Champion to Be Crowned on September 10

Thursday is set to be another major day at Playground.

The Main Event reaches its scheduled conclusion, with Chakraborty and Kornuth separated by only 1,500,000 chips at the top.

Two more ring events also begin. Event #14 is the CA$800 Mystery Bounty with a CA$150,000 guarantee, with Flight A at 11 a.m. and Flight B at 3 p.m. Event #15 is the CA$6,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, carrying a CA$200,000 guarantee and beginning at noon.

With six Canadians in the Main Event final nine and the Monster Stack also led by a Canadian-heavy leaderboard, the home-field story at WSOP Super Circuit Canada is far from finished.
