WSOP Super Circuit Canada: Laberge Bags 1.4M as Zhang Leads Flight C
- Samuel Laberge leads Day 2B of WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event with 1.4M chips.
- Canadian players occupy most top leaderboard spots; Feizal Satchu is second with 1.2M.
- Mingchen Zhang dominates Flight C, advancing with 985,000 chips.
Samuel Laberge continued his impressive run in the WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event on September 5, turning his Flight B chip lead into a massive 1.4 million-chip stack after Day 2B at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec.
The Canadian entered Saturday with 744,000 after leading Flight B and nearly doubled that stack during Day 2B. Fellow Canadian Feizal Satchu also enjoyed a huge session, finishing second with 1.2 million.
At the same time, the third and final starting flight of the CA$5,000 Main Event was taking place. China's Mingchen Zhang emerged as the Flight C chip leader with 985,000, well clear of Christopher Selami in second with 700,500.
With Day 2B complete and Flight C in the books, the CA$10 million guaranteed Main Event was one step closer to bringing its separate fields together.
Samuel Laberge Takes 1.4 Million Through Day 2B
Laberge started Day 2B in the strongest possible position after bagging 744,000 in Friday's Flight B.
Rather than surrendering that advantage, the Canadian built on it.
The WSOP LIVE results supplied to CanadianPoker.com show Laberge finishing Day 2B with 1.4 million, putting him comfortably ahead of the rest of the reported leaderboard.
Satchu, who began Day 2B with 466,000, also made substantial progress and finished with 1.2 million.
Canada occupied four of the first four positions.

Griffin Benger also continued his upward trajectory. He entered Day 2B with 331,000 and finished with 777,000, more than doubling his stack.
Laberge Goes From 50,000 to 1.4 Million
Laberge's progress across two days illustrates just how successful his opening Main Event sessions have been.
He began Flight B with the standard 50,000 starting stack, finished the flight with 744,000 and then reached 1.4 million during Day 2B.
That represents a 28-fold increase from his original starting stack.
Satchu followed a similarly impressive path, moving from 466,000 at the end of Flight B to 1.2 million after Day 2B.
The pair now join the strongest qualifiers from Day 2A as the tournament moves closer to combining its surviving fields.
Mingchen Zhang Dominates Flight C
While Laberge and Satchu were building seven-figure stacks, Flight C gave another group of players their opportunity to enter the Main Event.
This time, China's Mingchen Zhang finished on top.
Zhang bagged 985,000, giving him almost five times the stack of 200 big blinds indicated by the WSOP LIVE display at the end of the flight and putting him well ahead of second-placed Christopher Selami.

Denis Cyr led the Canadian contingent with 407,000, closely followed by Timothy Banks on 402,500.
Americans Chance Kornuth and William Givens also advanced with 354,000 and 429,000 respectively.
The displayed leaderboard does not establish the complete number of Flight C survivors, so those figures are not being estimated.
Canadians Building Serious Main Event Stacks
The September 5 results strengthen an already impressive Canadian position in the Main Event.
Daniel Haim had previously finished Day 2A with 1.2 million, continuing his strong festival after winning the Mini Main Event for CA$185,000.
Mike Leah reached 900,000 through Day 2A, Guillaume Nolet bagged 993,000 and Rayan Chamas finished with 825,000.
Now Laberge has moved beyond all of those previously reported stacks with 1.4 million.
For fans following Canadian poker tournaments, the depth of the home contingent is becoming one of the defining stories of the Main Event.
Day 2C Takes Over Playground on September 6
The Main Event continues Sunday, September 6 with Day 2C beginning at 11 a.m.
Zhang will return with 985,000, while Cyr, Banks and the other Flight C qualifiers attempt to join the survivors already through from Day 2A and Day 2B. The official WSOP schedule confirms that Day 2C is the final staggered Day 2 session.
Sunday also brings the next opportunity to win a WSOP Circuit ring.
Event #8, the CA$2,000 Deepstack Turbo, starts at 3 p.m. with CA$150,000 guaranteed. Monday then adds the CA$1,000 PLO Bounty, CA$14,000 GGMillion$ High Roller and CA$600 Ultra Stack to the schedule.
Saturday belonged primarily to Laberge. He led Flight B with 744,000, returned for Day 2B and nearly doubled again to 1.4 million. With several other Canadians building seven-figure or near-seven-figure stacks, the home challenge is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore as the biggest tournament of the inaugural Super Circuit moves deeper.
