Daniel Haim Wins WSOP Super Circuit Canada Mini Main for CA$185,000

Canada has its second champion of the inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada after Daniel Haim captured the massive CA$500 Mini Main Event at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec.
Haim defeated fellow Canadian Paul Dalrymple heads-up to win the WSOP Circuit ring and CA$185,000, bringing an impressive conclusion to a tournament that attracted 3,484 entries across five starting flights.
Dalrymple collected CA$120,000 for second place, while Jason Mandanici completed an all-Canadian podium by finishing third for CA$90,000.
In fact, Canadian players completely dominated the business end of the tournament. The top 13 finishers were all Canadians, with Michael Khan, Isabelle Simard, Eliad Rabayev and Michael St Pierre-Porter among those reaching the final table.
Daniel Haim Takes Down the 3,484-Entry Mini Main
The CA$500 Mini Main began on August 27 with a CA$500,000 guarantee and five starting flights.
By the time registration was finished, the tournament had generated 3,484 entries, with 344 players advancing to the final day.
Canadian players entered Sunday's action in a commanding position. Brett Wordon led with 1,600,000 chips, followed by Michael Nagle-Levy with 1,500,000. Michael Malm and Guoyan Li each held 1,400,000.
None of those four ultimately reached the final table, however, demonstrating just how much changed once the five starting flights combined.
Instead, it was Haim who survived the enormous field and eventually secured the title.

The final standings underline just how dominant the home players were.

Mexico's Jose Noceda broke the Canadian streak in 14th place, collecting CA$7,900.
The Canadian representation continued immediately afterwards, with Bill Kontaratos 15th and Gregory Pessine 16th for CA$7,900 each, followed by Ben Lee in 17th for the same amount.
Guoyan Li Finishes 19th
One of the notable eliminations was Guoyan Li, who had been among the biggest stacks throughout the opening stages.
Li led Flight 1B with 1,400,000 and entered the final day among the four largest reported stacks. His tournament eventually ended in 19th place for CA$6,430.
American Flight 1D leader Nicolas Theodorowicz lasted one position longer, finishing 18th for CA$6,430.
Grygorii Tskhovrebov, Samuel Lau, Patrick Lacy, Brandon Bartlett and Jean Bouchard also earned CA$6,430 for finishing between 20th and 24th.
Two Canadian Champions From Two Completed Events
Haim's victory continues a perfect start for Canadian players at the festival.
Quebec's Sebastien Proulx won the opening CA$500 Super Circuit Kickoff, defeating 731 entries to collect CA$56,000 and his first WSOP Circuit ring. WSOP has officially published Proulx's result.
Haim has now followed by winning the considerably larger Mini Main.
The turnout itself is another major indicator of the strength of live poker in Canada. The Mini Main's 3,484 entries came from a CA$500 buy-in tournament carrying an initial CA$500,000 guarantee. CanadianPoker.com had previously reported the complete starting-flight breakdown and 344 final-day qualifiers.
Mystery Bounty Advances as Championship Begins
Attention at Playground now turns to two more WSOP Circuit ring events.
The CA$1,000 Mystery Bounty completed its three starting flights over the weekend and returns Monday for its concluding stage. The tournament carries a CA$400,000 guarantee.
Meanwhile, Event #4 brings the first CA$2,000-plus buy-in of the festival.
The CA$2,300 Canada Circuit Championship begins Monday, August 31 with a CA$500,000 guarantee. Playground confirms the Championship runs through September 2.
That tournament leads into the biggest attraction of the entire series. The CA$5,000 WSOP Super Circuit Main Event begins September 3 and carries a huge CA$10 million guarantee.
The inaugural Super Circuit runs through September 12, offering 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than CA$14 million in guarantees.
For now, however, the headline belongs to Daniel Haim. From 3,484 entries, an all-Canadian top 13 and a CA$185,000 first prize, the Mini Main could hardly have produced a more Canadian conclusion.
