Canadian poker players following the international online schedule have a new high-stakes Sunday tournament to keep an eye on.
WPT Global has launched the Asia Super High Roller Championship, a weekly ¥5,300 event carrying ¥800,000 guaranteed and at least ¥200,000 for first place.
The tournament starts every Sunday at 12:05 UTC and combines a 200-big-blind opening stack with a qualifying network that runs throughout the week.
¥800K Guaranteed Every Sunday
The new championship is aimed squarely at the higher end of WPT Global's tournament player pool. A direct seat costs ¥5,300, approximately US$790 based on the conversion used in current tournament material.
At least ¥200,000, around US$30,000, is guaranteed to go to the champion.

With a Sunday afternoon UTC start, the timing is naturally geared towards evening play in Asia rather than North American prime time. For Canadians, that puts the tournament into the morning depending on time zone.
Satellites Start Well Below the High-Roller Buy-In
The direct entry is substantial, but WPT Global has attached several satellite ladders. The main qualifying paths currently include:
- ¥11 → ¥110 Mega Satellite
- ¥30 → ¥288 Satellite
- ¥55 → ¥550 Mega Satellite
Regular satellites generally guarantee one ¥5,300 seat. Mega Satellites guarantee at least two.
Another Asia-Focused Addition From WPT Global
The Super High Roller follows a busy summer for WPT Global's Asian schedule. The WPT Asia Series: Overdrive ran from July 19 through August 30 with more than ¥200 million in guarantees and 13 WPT Ring events.
The new championship takes one part of that approach and turns it into a recurring tournament. There is no six-week leaderboard or festival schedule attached this time. Instead, the ¥800,000 guarantee returns each Sunday.
