Third Party Software Ban GGPoker
GGPoker has introduced four optional client security features, added win-rate anomaly detection and banned third-party poker software. The operator will end support for older operating systems in 2027 and has shared cryptocurrency incident findings with Coinbase and law enforcement.

GGPoker has announced new security measures following a recent security incident, introducing four optional client protection features, adding win-rate anomaly detection and banning third-party poker software and automation tools.

The operator will also end support for older operating systems in 2027 and has shared its findings with Coinbase and law enforcement.

The changes cover player privacy, game integrity monitoring, software restrictions and operating system requirements.

Four Optional Client Security Features Introduced

GGPoker is adding a Client Security section to Game Settings, offering players four optional features that operate only while the game client is open: Screen Guard, Connection Monitor, Allowed Processes and DNS Check.

Screen Guard is designed to block screenshots, recordings, screen-sharing software and remote-viewing applications from accessing players' tables and hole cards.

The protection applies to screen-sharing and remote-access software running on a computer, regardless of whether the user installed it.

Players can enable the Protect the whole Client option to extend this protection to the lobby, cashier and account pages. This is intended to safeguard information such as GG Wallet balances, transaction history and personal details.

Connection Monitor alerts players to applications with suspicious connections, including remote-control tools and proxies. Allowed Processes lets users designate trusted applications so they do not trigger alerts. DNS Check examines the network for signs of DNS hijacking.

Win-Rate Anomaly Detection Added to Integrity Checks

GGPoker has introduced Win-Rate Anomaly Detection (WAD), a new method designed to identify abnormally high win rates.

The operator said conventional online poker integrity checks typically analyze hand histories for patterns associated with collusion, ghosting, botting and real-time assistance tools. GGPoker said its existing monitoring covers these areas, while WAD adds another layer using a different dataset.

The new method reviews each decision in a hand and assesses whether it was correct based on the cards actually held by an opponent.

It aims to identify players making correct decisions far more frequently than any honest playing style would allow, particularly when those decisions appear to rely on information about opponents' hole cards that should not be available to them.

GGPoker said testing the methodology identified cases from the past. The operator believes WAD will help prevent edge cases that occurred recently.

Third-Party Poker Software and Automation Tools Banned

GGPoker has expanded its restrictions on third-party poker software and automation tools that run alongside its client.

According to the operator, such applications may access game data, interact with poker tables or automate actions on a player's computer. GGPoker also said it cannot see or control how every third-party application handles user information, creating additional potential points of exposure.

Although certain third-party tools that did not affect gameplay were previously permitted, the operator has now decided to prohibit all third-party poker software and automation tools following the recent incident.

The prohibited applications include:

- Jurojin
- PokerTracker 4
- Hand2Note
- Holdem Manager 3
- StarsCaption
- DriveHUD 2
- Intuitive Tables
- Lobbyze
- Equilab
- AutoHotkey
- Other third-party poker software and automation tools

GGPoker will discontinue support for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and macOS 11, also known as Big Sur, or earlier macOS versions in 2027.

The operator said these operating systems no longer receive security patches from their manufacturers, leaving them exposed to modern exploits and critical security risks. Ending support is intended to strengthen account security and software integrity.

To avoid service interruptions when the transition takes effect, GGPoker has advised players to upgrade to at least Windows 10 or macOS 12 Monterey.

GGPoker Shares Incident Findings With Coinbase

GGPoker has also outlined steps taken to trace funds associated with the recent security incident and support affected players and the wider community.

The operator said it traced the funds involved and identified the associated cryptocurrency wallet address.

It shared its findings with Coinbase, where it believes the funds were deposited, and requested that the exchange restrict the associated account and preserve its records.

GGPoker also reported the wallet addresses to industry networks that track illicit funds and to law enforcement.

The operator said it would continue cooperating with authorities and the community as its response progresses.

GGPoker's response includes client-level privacy protections, additional integrity monitoring, a broader ban on third-party software and the planned retirement of support for older operating systems.

The operator said maintaining the security of its tables remains an ongoing effort. It plans to provide further updates as the matter develops and additional security features become available.
