WSOP Super Circuit Canada Ends With Three Canadian Winners at Playground

The inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada ended in fitting fashion at Playground on September 12, with Canadian players winning all three tournaments completed on the final day in Kahnawake, Quebec.

Chad Edmunds captured the CA$1,500 Closer Turbo Bounty, Matthew Hall finished first in the CA$600 Progressive Bounty, and Haile Kuo closed the entire festival by winning the CA$500 Series Saver Hyper Turbo.

The results brought an 18-ring festival to an end after more than two weeks of action, including Mayukh Chakraborty's CA$1.5 million Main Event victory and a long list of strong Canadian performances.

Attention now moves west. The Pure Poker Tour begins its next Yellowhead stop immediately, while WSOP Circuit Calgary follows at the end of September.

Chad Edmunds Wins the Closer for CA$63,000

Event #16, the CA$1,500 Closer Turbo Bounty, returned on September 12 after two opening flights.

Allan Alejandro had led the latest Flight 1B standings with 998,000, while Pei Li and Michael Leah shared the top displayed Flight 1A stack with 789,000.

But it was Canadian Chad Edmunds who emerged with the title.

WSOP LIVE lists Edmunds first with a CA$63,000 payout, ahead of China's Kejun Wang, who collected CA$40,000. Canadian Shaan Siddiqui finished third for CA$27,300, with Michael Leah taking fourth for CA$18,900.

Matthew Hall Wins Progressive Bounty

Canada continued its strong finish to the festival in Event #17, the CA$600 No-Limit Hold'em Progressive Bounty.

Matthew Hall took down the event, with fellow Canadian Matteo Carelli finishing runner-up. Eric Schanck completed an all-Canadian top three in third place.

The result gave Canada another title on the final day of the WSOP Super Circuit Canada and continued the home players' dominance at Playground.

Haile Kuo Wins the Final Ring

The final tournament of the series was Event #18, the CA$500 Series Saver Hyper Turbo.

Canadian Haile Kuo took the top spot and CA$31,070, denying American Mark Egbert, who finished runner-up for CA$20,020.

Taeg Gollert earned CA$13,400 in third, while Fadi Chamoun and Joel Kogan completed an all-Canadian top five outside of Egbert.

Kuo's victory officially closed a festival that ran from August 26 through September 12 with 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than CA$14 million in advertised guarantees.

Canadian Poker Focus Moves to Alberta

There will be little downtime for followers of Canadian poker tournaments.

Pure Poker Tour Series #4 runs at Pure Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton from September 13 to 27. Satellites begin September 13 before the main tournament schedule starts September 17.

The festival includes a CA$1,100 PLO Main Event from September 23 to 25 and a CA$1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event from September 25 to 27, alongside bounty, mixed-game and Omaha events.

Then comes another major WSOP stop.

WSOP Circuit Calgary runs at Deerfoot Inn & Casino from September 30 to October 12, featuring 18 ring events. The schedule includes a CA$2,300 Main Event with starting flights from October 8 to 10 and a CA$3,500 High Roller on October 12.

Playground's Super Circuit is over, but Canada's live tournament calendar is not slowing down.

For the next few weeks, Alberta takes over.
