Rami Hammoud Reaches WSOP Main Event Final Table as Canada Records 54 In-the-Money Finishes
Canada will have a representative at the WSOP Main Event final table after Rami Hammoud advanced with 53 big blinds, keeping the country's hopes alive for poker's most prestigious title.
Away from the final table, Canadian players produced another strong showing throughout the tournament, with 54 players finishing in the money.
Among those already eliminated, Matthew Lapossie recorded the country's largest cash after finishing 30th for $265,000.
Archimedes Arenas secured the second-largest payout among Canadian players, collecting $215,000 for a 41st-place finish.
Ricardo Cermeno followed with $150,000 after placing 55th, while Aaron Barone and Shreesh Hebbar each earned $125,000 for finishing 65th and 67th respectively. DJ Sharma also posted a six-figure result, taking home $105,000 for 78th place.
Several other Canadians advanced deep into the money. Michael Nugent, Behnam Patros and Callum Roque each earned $65,000, while Iris Liu, Loai Elayday and Jordan Knackstedt collected $57,500.
WSOP bracelet winner Frederic Normand added another Main Event cash with a 229th-place finish worth $50,000. Adam Sykes, Yu Liu, James Morgan and Albert Nguyen also earned $50,000 during the event.
Canada's in-the-money list also featured several accomplished professionals. Sam Chartier finished 370th for $40,000, Vanessa Kade earned $35,000 after placing 433rd, and WSOP bracelet winner Jason James collected $32,500 for his 488th-place finish.
Xuan Liu and Tam Ho each earned $27,500, while two-time WSOP bracelet winner Alex Livingston finished 897th for $20,000.
