Yves Perras overcame a near-impossible one big blind stack at the WSOP Circuit Playground Mini Main Event to claim $100,000, his first gold ring, and a Bahamas package. The 67-year-old Quebec native delivered one of Canadian poker’s greatest comebacks.

Quebec poker player Yves Perras pulled off one of the most remarkable turnarounds in WSOP Circuit history, winning the WSOPC Playground Mini Main Event for a career-best $100,000. Entering the final table with only 575,000 chips—less than two big blinds at 150,000/300,000—Perras was the shortest stack among the ten finalists.

As seasoned contenders including Albert Suetin, Julian Altieri Roman, Joseph Machaalani, and former WPT Prime Playground winner Jikai Zhang exited, Perras remained in the hunt through timely double-ups and measured play.

Key Hand Turns the Tide

Perras’ resurgence reached its peak in a dramatic three-way all-in confrontation. Holding pocket kings against Roman’s ace-queen and Sebastien Proulx’s pocket jacks, Perras spiked another king on the turn. The hand not only secured him the pot but also catapulted him into the chip lead.

With momentum on his side, Perras eliminated Proulx shortly after by trapping him with aces against jacks, then sent Jacob Parent to the rail in third place to set up the final heads-up clash.

Heads-Up Against Carragher

Facing off against Scott Carragher, who was fresh off a personal-best result earlier in the year, Perras began with a commanding 6-to-1 chip lead.

Carragher narrowed the gap with a double-up, briefly making the battle competitive. However, Perras reclaimed control by rivering a flush in a decisive pot, a lead he never surrendered.

The victory not only delivered him his first WSOP Circuit gold ring but also tripled his lifetime live earnings on The Hendon Mob.

A Career Milestone at 67

At 67 years old, Perras’ triumph stands as the highlight of his poker journey, adding to several smaller victories at Playground Poker Club. Alongside the $100,000 prize and WSOP Circuit ring, he also secured a $5,000 package to December’s WSOP Paradise in The Bahamas, awarded to all 2025 Circuit champions.

This win cements his status among Canadian poker stories of the year, proving that even from one big blind, resilience and patience can lead to championship glory.
