Three GGPoker qualifiers turned $75 satellite entries into a combined C$459,600 at the WSOPC Montreal Main Event. Daniel Tsipris finished second, Sylvain Siebert third, and Alexandre Oberson sixth, capturing three of the top six spots in Montreal.
The power of online poker satellites was on full display at the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Playground Montreal Main Event.
When the cards went face-up at the Playground Poker Club on May 25, three players who secured their seats through a GGPoker satellite combined to earn C$459,600 in prize money.
The tournament drew a total of 1,022 entries, generating a substantial prize pool of $2,319,940, with the top 148 players making the money. Out of the starting field, 147 players earned their entries via GGPoker satellites, making up roughly 14 percent of the total field.
That 14 percent contingent heavily impacted the business end of the tournament, accounting for three of the nine final table seats and three of the top six finishes.
From $75 to the Final Table
The financial return on investment for the trio of online qualifiers highlights the value of the satellite pathway. Each player entered the live tournament via a single $75 online buy-in on GGPoker, navigating their way deep into the 1,022-player field.
- Daniel Tsipris: Secured a runner-up finish, collecting $235,000 for second place. His deep run represented a return of more than 3,000x on his initial $75 investment. Tsipris came close to the title, falling just short of the event champion, Daniel Ghionoiu.
- Sylvain Siebert: Banked $164,600 for a third-place finish.
- Alexandre Oberson: Claimed sixth place, earning $60,000.
Between Tsipris, Siebert, and Oberson, the trio outlasted hundreds of players who paid the full $2,500 entry fee to secure their spots in the tournament.

A Repeating Pattern at Playground Poker Club
This performance adds to a recurring trend of satellite success at the Playground Poker Club venue. Earlier in 2026, the WSOP Circuit Playground Montreal Main Event saw GGPoker qualifier Jacob Hobday turn a $75 satellite entry into an outright victory. Hobday won the gold ring and C$620,000.
In that same event, a total of 274 GGPoker qualifiers combined to take home more than $1.8 million from a record-breaking $4.45 million prize pool.
A few months later, this latest tournament saw three more qualifiers account for nearly half a million dollars in combined earnings.
Across two major WSOP Circuit Main Events at the same venue within a single calendar year, the identical $75 online entry point has served as the foundation for multiple deep runs.
The Logistics of GGPoker Satellites
The conversion of online satellite entries into live tournament success is tied directly to the format of the qualifiers. GGPoker utilizes a Target Stack format for these events. Rather than emphasizing simple survival, this structure requires players to reach a specific chip threshold to qualify.
This format encourages aggressive, skilled play and chip accumulation habits that translate directly to the dynamics of live tournament poker.
The satellite qualifiers proved their capabilities against a field that paid full price. Tsipris, Siebert, and Oberson managed stack sizes, navigated pressure situations, and outmaneuvered opponents to reach the final nine.
The impact of the qualifying field extended beyond the final table. The 147 GGPoker qualifiers were represented throughout the payout structure, which awarded cash prizes to a tight bubble of 148 players.
Future Qualifying Opportunities
The WSOP Circuit calendar is ongoing, and satellite paths remain available on the GGPoker platform. The $75 entry point utilized by Tsipris, Siebert, and Oberson is one of multiple qualifying options currently open for upcoming events on the Road to WSOP. Players looking to replicate these deep runs can register on GGPoker to access active satellite brackets.
