Summer poker in Western Canada is gearing up for its staple mid-season stretch. The Pure Poker Tour is officially heading back to the Alberta capital, locking in its next major stop at Pure Casino Edmonton from July 12 to July 26, 2026. 

For local grinders and traveling players across the prairies, this two-week festival has become an essential fixture on the regional tournament calendar, offering a mix of freezeouts, bounties, and mixed games.

A Staple of the Prairie Poker Scene

The Pure Poker Tour (PPT) holds a unique spot in Canadian poker. Rather than catering to the massive corporate fields seen in coastal venues, the PPT is built specifically for Western Canadian players. Operating primarily out of Edmonton and Calgary, the circuit draws a dedicated field of local regulars, recreational players, and top-tier pros from across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.

The July stop marks a return to the Southside Edmonton venue on Argyll Road. Coming off the heels of a highly active spring series at sister-property Pure Casino Yellowhead, this mid-summer edition is expected to pull strong registration numbers as players look to capture regional titles and secure valuable Player of the Series points.

Flagships and Side Action

While the full structure sheets are managed directly through the venue's registration desk, the core pillars of the two-week series follow a proven formula that rewards deep-stack play.

  • The Main Event: The true focal point of the second week is the $1,100 Main Event. Historically drawing hundreds of entries to build a significant local prize pool, the tournament features multiple Day 1 starting flights and a blind structure tailored for patient post-flop play.
  • The High Roller: For the higher-stakes community, a $2,000 High Roller event is positioned on the schedule, attracting the region’s toughest competition.
  • Bounties and Variants: The PPT is well-known for its variety. Players can expect the popular $670 Mystery Bounty, a format that has quickly become a favorite across Canada. The schedule also traditionally carves out room for specialized tournaments, including a $250 Tag Team event, a dedicated Seniors event, and Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) variants.

The Venue: Pure Casino Edmonton

The entire 15-day festival will play out inside the gaming space at Pure Casino Edmonton, located at 7055 Argyll Road NW.

The casino features a permanent 12-table poker room that expands significantly into temporary tournament areas to accommodate the PPT crowds. For players traveling from out of town, the venue offers easy transit access on the south side of the city, a full-service lounge, and close proximity to local hospitality options. 

Cash games of various limits, primarily No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha, will run around the clock alongside the tournament action, ensuring that players who exit a preliminary tournament flight still have alternative options on the cash floor.
