Day 2d of Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event No-Limit Hold'em World Championship has officially concluded inside the Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas ballrooms.
For the thousands of competitors in attendance, the day was defined by the highly anticipated announcement of a $10 million first-place prize.
A surge of 820 new entries utilized the late registration period, joining the 3,638 returning players from Day 1d. This brought the total field size to 9,208 entrants, establishing it as the fourth-largest Main Event in World Series of Poker history.
The final prize pool surpassed $85 million, ensuring that each member of the final nine players will earn at least $1 million, while the eventual world champion walks away with the eight-figure grand prize.
With the prize structure finalized, the remaining levels of the day turned into a grueling battle for positioning. Michael Rossitto emerged as the unofficial chip leader for the flight, bagging a stack of 770,500.
In total, 2,034 players survived the Day 2d structure. These survivors will advance to Day 3, where they will merge with the 1,260 players who advanced from Day 2abc.
The combined field will resume play tomorrow at 11 a.m. local time, with everyone chasing a spot among the top 1,382 players who are guaranteed a piece of the prize pool.
