Canadian pro Kristen Foxen holds the chip lead with 27 players remaining on the final day of the Triton Montenegro $50K NLH event. Fellow Canadian Dan Dvoress sits in second, as the field eyes the $1,535,000 top prize.
The final day of the $50K NLH 8-Handed event at the Triton Poker Series Montenegro is officially underway. Leading the remaining field of 27 players is Canadian professional Kristen Foxen, who holds the top stack of 2,180,000 chips, equivalent to 73 big blinds.
The high-stakes tournament attracted a total of 132 entries, which generated a substantial overall prize pool of $6.6 million.
While 27 players have returned to the felt for the final day of action, only 23 of them will secure a piece of the prize pool. Due to the looming money bubble, the opening stages of play are expected to be cautious as competitors navigate the field to avoid busting just short of a payout.
A minimum cash in this elite event is valued at $77,000. However, the ultimate goal for the remaining field is the seven-figure first-place prize, with the champion set to walk away with a pay cheque of $1,535,000.
Dvoress Sits Close Behind in Second Chip Position
Foxen is not the only Canadian player near the top of the leaderboard. Fellow Canadian pro Dan Dvoress is currently positioned second in chips with a stack of 1,990,000.
Dvoress enters the final day with a proven track record in high-roller fields, having previously won the $25,000 Golden Decade No-Limit Hold'em event for a payout of $849,000.
With 27 players remaining and only 23 spots paid, the tension is high at the Triton Poker Series Montenegro. Kristen Foxen and Dan Dvoress put Canada in a dominant position at the top of the chip counts as the field fights for the $1,535,000 top prize.
