Canadian poker pro Ari Engel has added another international title to an already remarkable tournament resume, winning the $1,300 WPT Cambodia Championship at NagaWorld in Phnom Penh.
Engel topped a field of 391 entries to collect $91,444 from a $500,000 prize pool. The victory came on August 24 and gives the Canadian another major result outside North America after a busy summer at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
The final stages of the tournament ended in unusual fashion.
After Michael Oneill was eliminated in third place for $43,811, Engel and India's Adi Agarwal agreed to a heads-up deal. Rather than play out a lengthy heads-up match for the trophy, the pair decided the title with a single all-in flip.
Engel won the flip, securing the WPT Cambodia Championship trophy and the official first-place finish. Agarwal received $81,610 as runner-up.

Another Title for One of Canada's Most Consistent Players
Engel's Cambodia victory is his second tournament win of 2026.
He previously won an event at The Festival in Bratislava in February before returning to Las Vegas for another heavy WSOP schedule. Engel recorded 16 cashes during the 2026 WSOP, continuing the remarkable consistency that has defined his career.
He is particularly well known for his success on the WSOP Circuit.
Engel currently owns 20 WSOP Circuit rings, placing him second on the all-time list behind Maurice Hawkins. He has also won four WSOP bracelets, giving him one of the most decorated tournament records among active Canadian players.
His recorded live tournament earnings have now moved beyond $10.1 million.
Canadian Success on Another International Stage
For Canadian poker fans, Engel's victory adds another notable international result to a strong year for the country's top professionals.
Canadian players have already enjoyed major success across the WSOP, Triton Poker and other international tours during 2026, and Engel's Cambodia win extends that run into Asia.
The result is also notable because Engel had to recover from a difficult tournament position. Reporting from the event described him as entering the later stages with one of the shorter stacks before building his way back into contention and ultimately reaching heads-up play.
Once the deal with Agarwal was complete, the trophy came down to a single flip.
It may not have been the traditional ending to a championship, but the result adds another title to a career built on extraordinary volume, consistency and success across virtually every major tournament circuit.
Engel leaves Cambodia with $91,444, another trophy and another Canadian victory on the international poker calendar.
