Solana WSOP
Canadian players heading to Las Vegas for the 2026 World Series of Poker now have another way to handle tournament buy ins.

The WSOP has announced a new collaboration with the Solana Foundation, allowing players at the 2026 summer series to purchase tournament tickets using Solana through MoonPay. The option is available from June 10 at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas, and WSOP says the Solana based payment method will carry zero processing fees.

Less Hassle with Exchange?

For Canadians travelling south for the WSOP, the payment angle is worth watching.

A Las Vegas poker trip already comes with currency exchange, bank transfers, card limits, cash handling and cross border questions. Crypto will not replace those steps for every player, but it gives some players another route into WSOP events.

The partnership will go further at WSOP Paradise in The Bahamas this December. Tournament winners at eligible events will be able to receive settlements in stablecoins on Solana, giving players near instant access to payouts and reducing some of the delays often attached to international tournament payments.

The Solana Foundation has also been named Presenting Sponsor of the 2026 World Series of Poker and the 2026 WSOP Paradise.

Why Canadian Players Should Care

Canadian players are a regular part of the WSOP field, from recreational qualifiers to full time tournament pros. For those travelling to Las Vegas, money movement is often one of the less glamorous parts of the trip.

A player flying from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal or anywhere else in Canada has to think about more than flights and hotel rooms.

They need to manage US dollar buy ins, possible exchange fees, payment limits, casino procedures and how much cash they are comfortable carrying.

Solana payments do not remove every issue. Players should still expect compliance checks, identity checks and source of funds questions where relevant. But the new option may reduce friction for players who already use crypto or stablecoins as part of their bankroll management.

What It Means For Canadians

Canadian Player ScenarioWhy The Solana Option May Matter
Flying to Las Vegas with limited cashGives another way to access tournament tickets without relying only on physical cash
Playing multiple WSOP eventsMay help players manage buy ins across a longer schedule
Holding part of a bankroll in crypto or stablecoinsCreates a more direct path from digital funds to tournament entry
Dealing with CAD to USD conversionMay offer another route, although players still need to check exchange rates and fees before moving funds
Winning at WSOP ParadiseStablecoin settlement could mean faster access to funds after eligible events
Selling or swapping actionCould be useful for players already settling backing deals or swaps digitally

What is Solana?

Solana is a blockchain network built for fast and low cost transactions.
Its native cryptocurrency is SOL, but the network is also used for stablecoins and other digital assets.

For poker players, the important part is not only the coin itself. It is the payment rail. Solana can move digital assets quickly and cheaply, which is why it is being used here for tournament purchases and future stablecoin settlements.

That does not remove the need for casino compliance, tax reporting or responsible bankroll management, but it can make the payment process faster once a player is cleared to transact.

A Bigger Move At WSOP Paradise

The Las Vegas launch is mainly about buying tournament tickets. The December expansion at WSOP Paradise could be the more important test.

At WSOP Paradise, eligible tournament winners will be able to receive payouts in stablecoins on Solana.
For Canadian players, that could matter if they are travelling to The Bahamas and do not want to wait on slower cross border payment methods.

Stablecoin settlement may also appeal to players who already keep part of their bankroll in USD denominated digital assets. It gives them a faster way to receive funds after a result, although players should still understand exchange risk, wallet security, tax obligations and the rules of their own province.
