Day 41 of the 2026 WSOP saw 4,694 entrants join Main Event Day 1d, with Taylor von Kriegenbergh capturing the chip lead. Zixuan Liu won Event #85 for $219,391, and Event #86 commenced its first of three scheduled starting flights.

The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continued its run at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas on July 5.

While the daily schedule featured only three tournaments, making it a quieter session on paper, the physical venues were packed to capacity. This massive turnout was driven by the final opening flight of the tournament series' center stage event.

Away from the championship flight, exactly one gold bracelet was awarded during the day's action. Zixuan Liu emerged victorious in Event #85: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em, earning his first career gold bracelet along with a top prize of $219,391.

Following his win, Liu informed PokerNews that he intends to allocate a portion of his prize money to buy a new car for his supportive wife.

Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event World Championship saw a massive field of 4,694 players choose Day 1d as their starting point. By the conclusion of the day's play, the deep blind structure allowed 3,638 participants to successfully bag up chips and advance.
Taylor von Kriegenbergh secured the top spot on the Day 1d leaderboard by packing away 312,800 in chips. The Massachusetts native has established himself in the poker arena but is still hunting for his first career WSOP gold bracelet.

The flight also saw 11 former WSOP Main Event champions successfully navigate their way to Day 2d. Max Neugebauer finished as the highest-ranked former champion of the flight with a stack of 198,7000 chips. The other past champions advancing through Day 1d include:
  • Stoyan Madanzhiev (121,000)
  • Jonathan Tamayo (109,300)
  • Ryan Riess (106,8000)
  • Scott Blumstein (105,600)
  • Simone Andrian (97,200)
  • Joe McKeehen (75,000)
  • Hossein Ensan (50,000)
  • Chris Moneymaker (39,500)
  • Alexandros Kolonias (36,700)
  • Robert Varkonyi (33,100)
The players who survived Day 1d will have a temporary break, returning to action at 11:00 a.m. local time on July 7. Meanwhile, Day 2abc will resume on July 6 at 11:00 a.m. local time, bringing back a field of 2,468 players.

Running alongside the Main Event championship, Event #86: $600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold'em launched the first of its three scheduled starting flights. The event drew 1,366 entrants over the course of registration.

After completing 22 levels of play, the field was trimmed down to just 98 remaining players. Among those who successfully bagged chips for the next round were Ryan Bambrick, Naoya Kihara, and Ian Simpson.

Day 42 of the 2026 WSOP falls on July 6, featuring two events on the active schedule. The day begins with Day 1b of Event #86: $600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold'em, with Day 2abc of Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event World Championship following exactly one hour later.

When play resumes for the Day 2abc field, Ryuta Nakai of Japan will hold the overall chip lead with 323,000. He is closely followed at the top of the chip counts by Yulian Bogdanov with 315,000 and Igor Pansovoi with 300,300.
