Between a paused freeroll, new live event bonuses, and some additional prize money, WPT Global has had a busy few weeks. While the the temporary pause of the Crazy Freerolls is headline news everywhere, there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes.
Here’s a look at what’s changing, what’s staying the same, and what’s coming up next.
The Crazy Freerolls: What Happened There?
The Crazy Freerolls were proving popular, perhaps a little too popular. Due to high turnout and resulting server strain, WPT Global has decided to pause the series until October 1 to carry out infrastructure upgrades.
The pause only affects the freerolls themselves; all other promotions, including friend referral rewards and wagering-based offers, are continuing as usual.
All points and tickets earned so far will remain valid. And once the freerolls resume, players will receive free entry into a $100K Super Crazy Freeroll, where the winner will take home $20,000. Week 2 affiliate bonuses have also been paid out, totaling over $30,000.
Lodge Packages and the $100K Bonus Ticket
Meanwhile, WPT Global’s route to the WPT Prime Lodge Championship in Texas is still wide open. Two $2,100 packages are guaranteed every Sunday, and each includes a $1,100 tournament buy-in and $1,000 in travel expenses. On top of that, players who qualify online and go on to win the event will receive an extra $100,000 bonus courtesy of WPT Global.
Satellites start at $1.10 and feed into the $110 finals every Sunday. The main event, a $1 million guaranteed tournament runs October 9 to 13 at The Lodge Card Club in Austin, Texas.
Note that players must be 21+ to participate in the live event, so underage qualifiers will need to transfer their packages.
The Golden Bounty continues to run daily, and the guaranteed prize pool has now been bumped up to $250,000. The structure remains the same -- daily Day 1s lead into a final each Sunday -- but players now have more to aim for in the prize pool. Updated marketing assets are available for those promoting the series.
IPO Satellites and a New €100K Incentive
Over in Ireland, WPT Global expanded its live partnerships with a new three year deal to sponsor the International Poker Open (IPO). The 2025 edition is being held October 21–27 at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin, and WPT Global will be running weekly satellites to the €350 Main Event.
The new twist is the “Golden Ticket” bonus. Twenty players who qualify online through WPT Global will be eligible for a €100,000 top-up if they go on to win the Main Event. An online Day 1 is scheduled for October 19, giving players the option to secure a Day 2 stack before they even arrive in Dublin.
In addition to the Main Event, the schedule includes a €550 High Roller, a €1,100 Super High Roller, and side events such as a Seniors (50+), Omaha, and 8-Game. The IPO continues to strike a balance between accessibility and structure, and the €100K bonus adds a notable incentive this year.
