PokerStars Returns to Ontario: A New Era on the FanDuel Platform
- PokerStars returns in Ontario via FanDuel with upgraded software and unified wallet.
- Major tournament guarantees launched, including the No Sweat Series and Sunday Million.
- All players must register a new FanDuel account to play; screennames are first-come, first-served.
The wait is finally over for Canadian poker players. After a transition period that saw the platform temporarily close its virtual doors back in early May, PokerStars has officially returned to the regulated market in Ontario.
Operating under the new banner of "PokerStars on FanDuel," the highly anticipated relaunch took place last week, integrating the world-renowned poker brand directly into FanDuel's massive sports betting and casino ecosystem.
While the regulatory hurdles and technical migrations caused some expected delays over the past month, the tables are once again open for business with a brand-new software client, a unified wallet, and massive tournament guarantees.
A Massive Platform Overhaul
The move to the FanDuel ecosystem is one of the most significant shifts in North American online poker history. Having successfully launched across the regulated United States markets earlier in the spring, the June rollout officially brings Ontario into Flutter Entertainment's new unified gaming strategy.
The most noticeable change for returning grinders is the brand-new software client. Retiring its legacy Ontario software, PokerStars on FanDuel now utilizes a state-of-the-art platform powered by iPoker. While the visual identity retains that classic PokerStars aesthetic, the updated client introduces several major features, most notably a built-in HUD (Heads-Up Display).
Furthermore, the migration brings true convenience to players who enjoy multiple betting verticals. Thanks to FanDuel's unified wallet system, customers in Ontario can now seamlessly move their funds between the sportsbook, the casino, and the poker tables without jumping through hoops or managing separate accounts.
Launch Tournaments and Action
To apologize for the downtime and celebrate the triumphant return to the province, the platform immediately loaded up the tournament lobby with heavy-hitting guarantees.
The relaunch schedule is anchored by the No Sweat Series, a massive tournament festival designed with 100k in prizes to draw in new FanDuel clients right out of the gate.

Alongside the new festival, the undisputed king of online poker tournaments, the iconic Sunday Million, has returned, giving Ontario players a weekly shot at massive payouts.
What You Need to Know to Play
Because the transition involved a complete platform migration, there is no automated account transfer from the old PokerStars Ontario software.
All players, even those who regularly played on PokerStars prior to the May closure, must register for a new FanDuel account to hit the tables. If you already hold an active FanDuel account for sports betting or casino gaming, the process is incredibly simple: just log in and create your new poker screenname.
Because the database was reset during the migration, screennames are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so players are highly encouraged to log in as soon as possible to secure their preferred poker alias before someone else claims it.
