Phillip Hellmuth III recorded a 302000 chip stack on Day 1b of the WSOP Circuit $600 Monster Stack at Planet Hollywood. With Phil Hellmuth competing nearby, the result creates a chance for the family’s first Circuit ring.
Las Vegas hosted parallel poker storylines this week involving the Hellmuth family. Phil Hellmuth played high buy-in events at the PokerGO Studio, while his son Phillip Hellmuth III posted a notable Day 1b result at the WSOP Circuit stop across the strip.
Phillip Hellmuth III competed in the $600 Monster Stack No-Limit Holdem, one of the headline events in the WSOP Circuit schedule at Planet Hollywood. He completed Day 1b with a chip count of 302,000, positioning himself well for the remaining field.
Hands That Built the Stack
Hellmuth III build a solid stack from a series of pivotal situations like:
- He won a three-way all-in holding pocket aces, eliminating two opponents.
- He later secured another large pot in a set versus set hand.
- Both spots played a central role in shaping his Day 1 result.
Different Paths on the Same Week
Phil Hellmuth announced earlier that he traveled to Las Vegas with his sons Phillip and Nicholas. Despite the Circuit stop running at the same time, he skipped the Planet Hollywood events and entered the $10,100 PGT Last Chance tournaments at the PokerGO Studio.
The contrast highlighted two approaches, with the father focused on high stakes and the son grinding a large field structure.
Circuit Ring Still Missing
The Hellmuth record includes 17 WSOP bracelets, but no Circuit ring. A win in the Monster Stack would place Phillip Hellmuth III as the first in the family to claim one.
As play resumes at Planet Hollywood, the spotlight remains on whether the stack can be carried through to the final table.
