A record-setting Pot-Limit Omaha bad beat jackpot has added another remarkable chapter to Quebec’s live poker story after players at Playground Poker Club shared a payout worth CAD $924,780.

The jackpot was triggered in a $2/$5 PLO5 cash game when a king-high straight flush beat a jack-high straight flush, setting off what was reported as the largest Omaha bad beat jackpot ever.

The distribution was as eye-catching as the hand itself. The player holding the losing straight flush received roughly CAD $370,000, while the winning hand collected about CAD $185,000.

The remaining players at the table each picked up just over CAD $30,000, turning a regular cash-game session into one of the most talked-about poker moments of the week in Canada.
For Canadian players, the story fits a pattern that has become closely associated with Playground and with Quebec poker more broadly. The room has repeatedly been linked to some of the biggest bad beat jackpots in live poker, including the CAD $2.6 million payout in 2023 that remains one of the best-known examples anywhere in the game.

That history has helped cement Quebec’s reputation as a place where deep cash-game traffic and large promotional pools can combine to produce outsized moments.

There is also a wider significance for the local poker economy. Huge jackpots do more than create headlines; they keep casual players engaged, generate buzz among regulars, and reinforce the appeal of live cash games at a time when competition for player attention remains intense.
In practical terms, stories like this can drive added foot traffic, larger line-ups, and stronger game selection in the days and weeks that follow. That is one reason these jackpots matter well beyond the table where they land.

For the Canadian poker community, this latest hit is another reminder that Quebec continues to occupy a special place on the live scene.

Big tournament festivals may draw the banners, but jackpots like this are what keep poker rooms in the conversation between major series. When nearly CAD $925,000 can be triggered in a $2/$5 PLO5 game, the message is simple: the action in Quebec remains very real.
