Canadian poker has not been short of names to follow in 2026. Daniel Negreanu and Kristen Foxen added WSOP bracelets in Las Vegas, Mayukh Chakraborty recently banked CA$1.5 million at Playground, and now another Canadian has popped up at the top of a major online result, although this one remains hidden behind a screen name.

MrYoungShark” won the $109 Mystery Bounty Main Event on 888poker on September 14, turning a commanding final-table chip lead into a $15,371 payday. The Canadian collected $6,536 from the regular prize pool and another $8,835 in mystery bounties after beating a 683-entry field.

MrYoungShark Starts Final Table With More Than Double the Next Stack

There was little ambiguity over who had control when the final eight sat down.

MrYoungShark began the final table with 2,951,018 chips, worth 74 big blinds, more than twice the stack of Austria’s “PokerStrive,” who was second on the leaderboard. Behind them, the table was considerably tighter: only four big blinds separated third place from seventh, while New Zealand’s “3pokreonly” started shortest with 13 big blinds.

That gave the Canadian room to work while much of the rest of the table dealt with shallower stacks and increasingly expensive pay jumps.

BigFish20” was first out in eighth for $907, followed by Romania’s “sugarrush2,” who collected $1,107 in total. Ukraine’s “Dimasikk888” departed in sixth for $1,903 before short stack “3pokreonly” managed to move up two places and finish fifth for $1,637.

Austria’s “PokerStrive” then fell in fourth for $3,172, leaving MrYoungShark alongside Denmark’s “kojgysto888” and Lithuania’s “MantynisNA.”

The Dane was the next to go, earning $3,680 for third place and setting up a Canada-Lithuania heads-up match.

By that stage, MrYoungShark had already collected more than $8,000 in mystery bounties. The Canadian finished the job against MantynisNA to take the largest regular payout as well, bringing the final haul to $15,371. MantynisNA earned $4,980 from the standard prize pool and $1,047 in bounties for a combined $6,027.

Another Canadian Result in a Strong 2026

A $15,371 online win is not going to challenge the biggest Canadian scores of the year, but its timing adds another result to what has already been an impressive 2026 for players flying the Maple Leaf.

The biggest names have done their share. Kristen Foxen won the $25,000 NLH High Roller at the WSOP for $1,773,083, securing her sixth bracelet. Christopher Alcindor added another Canadian bracelet in the $1,500 Big O for $387,110.

Later in the series, Homan Mohammadi beat 7,538 entries in the $1,000 Seniors Championship for $660,000, while Abhishek Mhatre won the $3,000 6-Handed NLH event for $492,050.

Daniel Negreanu

Then came Daniel Negreanu. The Toronto-born Poker Hall of Famer captured his eighth bracelet in the $100,000 PLO High Roller, earning $2,257,718, while fellow Canadian Patrick Stacey won the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball for $223,177.

MrYoungShark’s result comes from a very different corner of the poker calendar, but it adds an online victory to a year in which Canadian players have repeatedly found the winner’s circle on the live circuit.

Win Comes Days Before 888poker XL Autumn

The result also lands just before one of the busier stretches of the 888poker calendar.

XL Autumn Series

The XL Autumn Series begins September 20 and runs through September 29, with 41 numbered tournaments and almost $900,000 in advertised guarantees. Mystery Bounty tournaments make up 26 of those 41 events.

That includes a $109 Mystery Opening Event on September 20 carrying a $100,000 guarantee, the same buy-in as the weekly event MrYoungShark just won, but with the guarantee pushed back into six figures for the series.

The largest tournament of XL Autumn is the $250 Mystery Bounty Main Event with $300,000 guaranteed. Its Day 1 flights feed into Day 2 on September 28 before the final table plays out on September 29. 888poker is also running a $25 Mystery Mini Main with $50,000 guaranteed.
