Daniel Negreanu’s Bold 2025 WSOP Blueprint: Targeting 53 Events, Could Dominate in Seniors Debut
- Daniel Negreanu could compete in 53 events at the 2025 WSOP (but it's not likely he will play in that many, as explained below).
- Includes events like $1,000 Mystery Millions, the $250,000 No-Limit Hold'em event, and the Seniors tournament.
- Canadian looks to add to his bracelet total.
Daniel Negreanu turned 50 years old, making him eligible for tournaments he couldn't enter before. The Canadian has an ambitious agenda set for the 2025 World Series of Poker.
Daniel Negreanu Reveal Party....For 2025 WSOP Tournaments
Daniel Negreanu, the legendary poker icon famously known as "Kid Poker," has revealed ambitious, if not tentative, plans for the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP). The Canadian player and celebrity is setting his sights on 53 bracelet events across the late spring and early summer in Las Vegas (the events will take place from May 27th to July 16th).
But this year's poker tournaments in Nevada represent a new chapter in Negreanu's career, a chapter that has to do with aging. What’s on the Poker Legend’s plate? Negreanu plans to be active early in the 2025 WSOP, with participation in the low-entry-fee $1,000 Mystery Millions event on May 27th, 2025.
He is likewise planning to play in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event on July 4th, as confirmed by a recent tweet that listed all of the events he plans to enter.
His fans should expect changes in the schedule, based on how things go for him. For instance, there are tournaments he won't be able to enter if he does too well in the previous tournament because the schedules can overlap. If he's running well in the main event, lots of late tournaments will be off the table.

Negreanu Targets High Stakes and Low Stakes Events
The Poker Hall of Famer’s focus remains on high-stakes action. He will enter marquee events like the $250,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament, the $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em event, and the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament. However, he has also included lower buy-in tournaments such as the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8-or-Better (May 28th), $1,500 Dealers Choice (May 30th), and $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (June 13th).
His itinerary spans nearly every poker variant, from No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha to mixed games, Razz, and Stud. A key highlight of Negreanu’s 2025 WSOP journey is his participation in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Seniors event on June 12th.
Aren't Seniors 65? In Poker, Old Age Starts at 50
Negreanu made a special point in his recent tweet about the Seniors event, adding three exclamation points to the tournament in contrast to every other event he listed. It's surely because this event underlines a milestone for the Canadian.
Is he lamenting that he's now a senior by poker standards or is he excited about it? Mixed emotions? Who can say but him.
But there is now a clear contrast between his "Kid Poker" nickname, which he earned in the 1990s as a prodigious young talent dominating the poker world, and his eligibility for old-age tournaments.
Yet, "Middle-Aged-Man Poker" doesn't have the same ring.
With 53 Tournaments Targeted - Will He Get Another Ring?
Negreanu has seven WSOP bracelets. He will be young in the seniors field and maybe that's where his best chance of winning a No Limit Hold'em event lies. These tournaments have players in their 60s, 70s, and even much older.
But Negreanu's best chances for another ring likely lie in Mixed Games. Love them or hate them, they don't produce the wild results that No Limit Texas Hold'em does produce.
The cream rises to the top more often in the mixed games formats. On that matter, Negreanu recently won a Mixed Games event on the PokerGO Tour to go with a couple of other late finishes.
With plenty going on, it should be a wild ride for the Canadian, one that starts in late May and hopefully ends with a win in the Main Event.
