Canadian players made a strong push on Day 1a of the WSOP Paradise 2025 Super Main Event. 11 players advanced from the 605-entry field, led by Michael Nugent, Alex Livingston, Kristen Foxen, and Vanessa Kade.

The WSOP Paradise 2025 Super Main Event opened with a busy Day 1a flight at Atlantis Paradise Island. The $25,000 championship event pulled in 605 entries and had 591 still in contention. The field included a sizable Canadian group that produced clear progress across the opening session.

The first starting flight drew 605 entries and continued the strong momentum. With high-stakes regulars, recreational players and regional qualifiers in the mix, the early field set the tone for another competitive series in The Bahamas. 

Canadian Players in the Pool

Canada marked a significant presence on Day 1a with ten players advancing to the next stage. The group included several well-known names with deep WSOP experience and past success in championship fields.

At the time of publishing, Michael Nugent posted the second biggest stack among the Canadians with 900,000. His finish placed him near the upper end of the flight and set up a solid path toward Day 2.

Alex Livingston collected 1,300,000 chips and became the chip leader. The 2019 WSOP Main Event finalist continues his solid play and will look to add another major title to his credit.

Kristen Foxen has 563,000 chips to fight the Day 1a battle. The 5-time WSOP bracelet winner remains to be a strong contender in the tournament.

Another well-known name in the poker circuit is Vanessa Kade. With 440,000 chips in her kitty, the player is 108th in chip counts. Kade will look to chip up and race ahead.
