Daniel Dvoress is one of Canada's strongest poker players. He is approaching $40M in career winnings.
While Daniel Negreanu remains the most proven poker player on the Canadian frontier, there are younger players that Canadian poker fans should be aware of. Negreanu has not shown signs of slowing down recently, winning Event #6 at the 2024 PGT PLO Series II in Las Vegas as recently as October 24th.
That victory followed up a bracelet victory at the 55th World Series of Poker in a Mixed Games tournament in June 2024.
But Negreanu is 50 years old and the way the poker tournaments keep getting bigger and bigger in terms of entry fees and prize pools, Canadian poker fans have to wonder if the younger players will eventually surpass Negreanu on the money list for Canadians.
Daniel Dvoress - Major Cashes
Daniel Dvoress certainly isn't the prototype of the baby-faced assassin. He will turn 37 years old later this year. But he is still about 14 years younger than Daniel Negreanu.
Negreanu should be a force for years to come. But Dvoress should be a force as well. With time on his side, so too are a lot more opportunities to make final tables.
When it comes to where Dvoress currently sits in Canadian poker, he is No. 3 on the All-Time Money List for his country. He sits behind Negreanu and Timothy Adams.
The latter player is a couple of years older than Dvoress while their winnings are pretty much neck and neck at $38.9M for Adams and $38.7M for Dvoress.
Dvoress has just one bracelet so far in his career and it came during the pandemic. He won an online event known as the $1500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER (Event #48) back in August 2020. That netted him winnings of almost $1.5M.
But his biggest payday came recently at the $500K No Limit Hold'em Triton Million (Event #2). He finished fourth and took away a prize of $4.39M.
I tracked down the final table for the event. Dvoress did a lot of damage but Alejandro Lococo won the event, taking away just over $12M.
If you watch the video below, don't expect Dvoress to go out in style. He lost with the ducks as the eventual champion cleaned him out in the 37th minute.
When looking at the Top 15 on the Canadian money list, Dvoress is one of the youngest players.
What highlights his potential is that, like Timothy Adams, Dvoress doesn't have any problems entering extremely high-entry fee tournaments and he often does well in them.
For instance, back in 2019, Dvoress won a $250,000 No Limit Hold'em event, outlasting Wai Chan and Erik Seidel, among others.
Dvoress and Adams are the front runners to challenge Negreanu's place on Canada's All-Time Money List in the years ahead. The details below show their winnings and their birthdates.
Daniel Negreanu: July 26th, 1974, $54.4M
Timothy Adams: June 4th, 1986, $38.9M
Daniel Dvoress: July 12th, 1988, $38.7M
