Canadian pro Ari Engel bagged the 12th largest chip stack with 576,000 in WSOP Event #5: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha. Dylan Weisman leads the remaining 120 players into Day 2 at The Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continued its action-packed schedule at The Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, drawing a highly competitive field of 716 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) specialists for Event #5: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha.

After a grueling opening day of play, only 120 competitors managed to secure a bag, with Canadian poker pro Ari Engel putting together a standout performance to grab the 12th highest stack in the tournament.

Engel successfully navigated the elite field to finish the evening with an impressive 576,000 chips. His strong showing puts him in a prime position as the tournament transitions into its second day of play.
Weisman Leads the Field

Leading the remaining 120 players into Day 2 is California native Weisman, who bagged a massive 951,000 chips, equivalent to 119 big blinds.

Weisman already holds poker bracelets from both a $1,000 PLO and a $1,500 PLO event. Widely regarded as one of the greatest minds in the discipline, his dominant performance on Day 1 strongly supported that reputation.

While Weisman holds the overnight chip lead, a highly skilled line-up of players remains hot on his heels. Jesse Lonis sits in second place with 906,000 chips, followed closely by James Chen with 856,000.

The top 10 chip counts also feature established bracelet winners Ka Kwan Lau, who returns with 790,000, and Frank Brannan, who bagged up 625,000.

Tournaments featuring a $5,000 buy-in historically attract elite poker talent, particularly in non-Hold'em variants, and this event has proven to be no exception.

To maintain his lead, Weisman will need to perform at his absolute best against a formidable chasing pack.

Loaded Line-up Navigates to Day 2

Beyond Engel and the top tier leaders, the remaining field is packed with prominent poker professionals who successfully survived the opening day. The list of contenders includes a variety of high profile names looking to make a deep run. Other notable players advancing to Day 2 include:
  • Renji Mao (495,000)
  • Farid Jattin (468,000)
  • Robert Mizrachi (414,000)
  • Nick Schulman (336,000)
  • Chad Eveslage (314,000)
  • Ben Lamb (285,000)
  • Justin Liberto (275,000)
  • Adam Hendrix (225,000)
  • Patrick Leonard (176,000)

The remaining 120 players will return to action at 12:00 p.m. local time on May 29. Play is scheduled to resume at Level 16, featuring blinds of 4,000/8,000 alongside an 8,000 big blind ante. PokerNews will provide its traditional live coverage from the tournament floor as these PLO experts battle for a spot on Day 3.
