WSOP Super Circuit Canada: Four Mini Main Flights Complete at Playground
- Sebastien Proulx wins first WSOP Super Circuit Canada ring & CA$56K.
- Four Mini Main flights draw 2,125 entries; one starting flight remains.
- CA$1K Mystery Bounty event launches, signaling strong live poker in Canada.
The inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada enters its first Saturday at Playground with one ring already awarded and four of five starting flights completed in the CA$500 Mini Main Event.
As of 8:00 a.m. Quebec time on Saturday, August 29, all tournament action from Friday is in the books. That means Mini Main Flights A, B, C and D have now been played, leaving only Saturday's Flight E before the surviving fields combine for Day 2 on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Sebastien Proulx has officially become the first champion of the festival after winning the CA$500 Super Circuit Kickoff for CA$56,000.
Saturday will also introduce Event #3, the CA$1,000 Mystery Bounty, giving Playground two active ring events for the first time this weekend.
Sebastien Proulx Becomes First Super Circuit Canada Champion
Event #1 produced the first ring winner of the 18-event festival.
Quebec's Sebastien Proulx defeated a 731-entry field in the CA$500 Super Circuit Kickoff, collecting CA$56,000 and his first WSOP Circuit ring.
Proulx had reached three WSOP Circuit final tables during the previous year without securing a ring. His breakthrough came at Playground after defeating Marcello Iacovella heads-up.
Iacovella received CA$36,500 for second place, while Pengxiang Ruan collected CA$25,200 in third.

Four Mini Main Flights Are Now Complete
The CA$500 Mini Main Event has quickly developed into a huge tournament at the WSOP Super Circuit Canada, with the first four starting flights attracting a combined 2,125 entries at Playground.
Thursday's opening Flight 1A attracted 426 entries, with 43 players successfully navigating their way through to Day 2. American player Darrell Blodgett emerged as the flight's chip leader after bagging an impressive 1,200,000 chips.
Later that day, Flight 1B added another 373 entries. A total of 38 players advanced, led by Canada's Guoyan Li, who finished the night with 1,400,000 chips. That stack also makes Li the overall chip leader through the first four completed flights.
Friday brought even bigger fields.
Flight 1C attracted 669 entries, making it the largest flight of the tournament so far. Canada's Dan Kashvin led the 67 survivors with 947,000 chips.
The evening Flight 1D was almost as large, drawing 657 entries. From that field, 65 players secured their places on Day 2. American Nicolas Theodorowicz finished on top with 1,200,000 chips.

Through four flights, 213 players have qualified for Day 2 from 2,125 entries. Better still from a Canadian perspective, two of the four flights have ended with Canadian players on top of the chip counts.
Guoyan Li currently sets the overall pace with 1,400,000, followed by Blodgett and Theodorowicz on 1,200,000 apiece. Kashvin's 947,000 also gives Canada another substantial stack heading toward the combined field.
One starting flight remains. Flight 1E begins Saturday at 11 a.m. Quebec time, after which the complete Day 2 field and final entry count will be known.
The huge Mini Main turnout is another indication of the current strength of live poker in Canada, with Playground continuing to attract major fields to Kahnawake.
One Last Chance to Reach Mini Main Day 2
Players who have not yet qualified get their final opportunity Saturday.
Flight E begins at 11:00 a.m. Quebec time, completing the five-flight opening stage. PokerAtlas and the official tournament schedule both confirm Saturday as the final Mini Main starting flight.
Survivors from all five flights then return to Playground at 12:00 p.m. Sunday for Day 2.
By then we should have the tournament's final entry count, prize pool, complete Day 2 field and a much clearer picture of who is positioned to challenge for the second WSOP Circuit ring of the series.
Mystery Bounty Starts Saturday Afternoon
The Mini Main is not the only tournament to watch Saturday.
Event #3, the CA$1,000 Mystery Bounty, begins at 4:00 p.m. with its first starting flight.
Players receive 50,000 chips, levels run for 30 minutes and the tournament carries a CA$400,000 guarantee.
Two additional starting flights follow Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., before the survivors return for Day 2 on Monday.
After that, the festival moves rapidly into larger buy-ins. The CA$2,300 Super Circuit Championship begins Monday with CA$500,000 guaranteed, while the CA$5,000 Main Event starts September 3 with its enormous CA$10 million guarantee.
For Saturday morning, however, the picture is clear: one champion has been crowned, four Mini Main flights are complete, one remains, and the Mystery Bounty is about to join the action.
