The WSOP No Limit documentary faces backlash after creator Dustin Iannotti confirms that AI-generated quotes were inserted into two episodes featuring Alan Keating.

The WSOP documentary series No Limit has returned to the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The final episode is still pending release.

Yet the creator Dustin Iannotti is already dealing with strong criticism after admitting that artificial intelligence was used to generate dialogue attributed to high-stakes player Alan Keating.

The quotes appeared in Episodes 5 and 6. Both episodes aired last week during coverage of WSOP Paradise 2024.
Iannotti confirmed in now-deleted posts that AI tools were used to imitate Keating’s voice. He said the lines reflected themes Keating had spoken about in an earlier interview. Keating was not aware of the edits. He was not consulted before release. The admission created a new debate inside the poker world about disclosure and editorial ethics.

Alan Keating Flags AI-Generated Dialogue

Keating appeared in the two episodes that featured extended table coverage. On Friday night he took to social media.

He reposted a WSOP announcement and pointed out that the show had placed words in his mouth. He said the segments included AI-generated voice lines. The posts were deleted soon after.
Keating drew attention because of his comments on tournament poker when compared with cash games.

The show used clips in which he said tournament play felt like a different game. He used a chess-and-checkers comparison to frame the gap between the formats. He also said he disliked tournaments and questioned why he was present.

The new controversy centered on the claim that not all of those lines came from Keating. Some came from an AI model.

Show Creator Addresses Use of AI

The series is funded by GGPoker. The concept was developed by Iannotti. His résumé includes past roles with Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars Team Pro Online. He later founded Artisans on Fire, a studio known for long-form poker content.

Iannotti previously said the project aimed to capture stories worthy of viewers’ time. He said the team filmed for twenty days with sixteen-hour schedules. The sessions produced more than 700 hours of footage.

Early on Saturday he replied to Keating directly. He admitted that AI was used for two short scenes. He said the segments totalled about ten seconds of material across the two episodes. He acknowledged that Keating should have been consulted.

He said the team took responsibility for the oversight. Iannotti also said Keating’s episodes received strong viewer feedback. Many viewers highlighted Keating’s moments as their favourite parts of the series.

Sections That Were Edited

In an additional deleted post, Iannotti listed the edited parts. He also listed the original statements that inspired the AI lines. He said Keating’s themes remained intact and the vocabulary aligned closely with the source material. The AI text was created for scene transitions and pacing.

He admitted that disclosure should have taken place. He said consent should have been secured before editing.

Breakdown of the Two AI-Generated Quotes

The first AI-generated line appeared at 19:18 of Episode 5. Keating is heard saying that he enjoys placing opponents in tough spots. The statement was built from separate comments he made about difficult situations in cash games.

Keating had said that cash games test players at a deeper level. He also said he sometimes enjoys seeing frustration at the table. He also discussed comfort in pressure spots. The AI-generated line was a synthesis of those moments.

The second AI-generated line appeared at 23:00 of Episode 6. Keating is heard asking if he can go find a cash game. Iannotti said this came from a prior off-camera comment where Keating asked if they should play cash.

Questions About Other Players

PokerNews asked Iannotti whether AI was used on any other player. He denied it. He said the only examples were the two Keating lines. He called them oversights.

However Alex Keating, a different player, later posted that his own episode contained a fake voice.
He said his segments were re-edited without full context. He said he did not approve any AI voiceover or cut-and-splice approach. He withdrew support for the episode and said he did not give consent.

Community Reaction Builds Quickly

The poker community reacted fast. Many said the use of AI to fabricate quotes damaged trust. Alan Keating replied with a short dismissal. Others called the practice outrageous. Some said the news raised questions about the integrity of the entire production.

Several players labelled the approach repulsive. They said the edits showed poor judgment and weak governance in a project backed by a major operator.

The final two episodes of No Limit are set to air on Tuesday and Thursday. Questions now hang over the closing chapters. The disclosure has placed the focus not on the story of WSOP Paradise, but on the boundaries of modern poker storytelling.
