Maurice Hawkins continues to rewrite the record books. The all-time leader in World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) rings added to his tally this week, claiming his 22nd piece of gold hardware at the Horseshoe Tunica. The win came in Event #2: $400 Mini Main Event, where Hawkins outlasted a competitive field to secure a $35,146 payday and a widened lead over his closest competitor, Ari Engel.

Printing money is what [I] do.

Hawkins remarked on social media, emphasizing the consistency that has kept him at the top of the tour for nearly two decades. This latest win is his first of 2026 and comes on the heels of a dominant 2025 where he picked up back-to-back rings in New Orleans.

Heads-Up Battle at the Horseshoe

The Mini Main Event final table was a showcase of regional poker talent, with Jermaine Coleman and Gerard Thorpe making deep runs into the top four. However, the tournament’s climax was a heads-up battle between two of the Circuit’s most decorated players: Hawkins and Cody Stanford.

Stanford, who entered the match looking for his own eighth ring, struggled to find traction against Hawkins’ unrelenting pressure. While Stanford put up a spirited defense, Hawkins eventually found the right spots to drain his opponent’s chips, closing out the match to secure the record-breaking 22nd title.

The win brings Hawkins' total career live earnings to over $6.4 million, further cementing his status as a first-ballot Hall of Fame candidate for the Circuit.

A Uniquely Tunica Victory

Mississippi has long been a stronghold for Hawkins. Of his 22 rings, three have now been earned at the Horseshoe Tunica. His ability to navigate the specific fields of the "Southern Circuit" has become legendary, with his record in New Orleans and Cherokee matching his success in Mississippi.

As the 2026 season progresses, the target on Hawkins’ back only grows larger, yet he continues to find ways to "print money" on the game’s biggest stages.
