Poker icon Daniel Negreanu fights YouTube’s crackdown on poker content as he launches his 2025 WSOP vlog. Facing demonetization and video restrictions, the poker community seeks social media solutions to keep sharing poker journeys, reflecting broader challenges for creators in the evolving digital landscape.

Negreanu’s YouTube Struggles Amid WSOP Vlog Launch

Earlier this week, poker icon Daniel Negreanu, recognized as Canada's All-Time money leader and best poker player, took to X to voice his frustration with YouTube’s escalating restrictions on poker content. In a post from May 28th, Negreanu, under his handle @RealKidPoker, urgently requested contacts at YouTube to help navigate what he described as an “attack” on poker-related videos.

His tweet is a plea that asks anyone with contacts at YouTube to help get the social media website to allow poker "Vlogs all Summer long." The request coincided with his announcement of a new 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) vlog, set to drop on his YouTube channel just two hours later.

YouTube’s Poker Content Crackdown and Community Response

Negreanu’s struggle reflects a broader crisis for poker content creators on YouTube. Since March 2025, the platform has enforced stricter gambling content policies, leading to widespread demonetization, age restrictions, and video removals. These are changes that have hit some contributors hard, and uncertain about how to proceed with the social media side of their careers.

The background issue here might be the notion of how social media can proceed while being family-oriented. You can play poker for points, but the essence of the game, for most, is when it's played for money. The gambling orientation will likely always cause some issues. Yet, poker programs appear regularly on television, and it is inherently non-violent as the casino settings usually require social behavior even when a player is angry.

Responses to Negreanu’s post on X suggested alternatives like Rumble or posting directly on X, though Negreanu replied that X uploads don’t gain much traction.
