Daniel Negreanu was eliminated on Day 3 of the 2025 WSOP Main Event after his pocket nines fell to Simon Levy’s Ace-Queen. Shotaro Kobayashi leads the field ahead of Day 4.

Seven-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu was eliminated on Day 3 of the 2025 WSOP Main Event.

The GGPoker ambassador’s run ended in a hand against Simon Levy. Holding pocket nines, Negreanu was ahead preflop but lost the hand when Levy’s ace-queen improved on a board of 48K10Q.

Negreanu’s elimination came amid several high-profile exits on the day. WSOP bracelet record-holder Phil Hellmuth was also knocked out.

Hellmuth’s ace-king made the top pair, but Michael Zulker’s pocket queens hit an one-outer on the river to take the pot and send the 18-time bracelet champion packing.

Despite the exits of notable figures, multiple recognized names remain in contention going into Day 4. Battling it out for the top prize are players like Phil Laak, Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree, Swedish pro Viktor Blom, Sergio Aido, and Chris Hunichen, the 2024 WSOP High Roller champion.

At the end of Day 3, Shotaro Kobayashi of Japan leads the chip counts with 1,971,000 chips. He is followed by former WSOP Main Event winner Max Neugebauer of Austria, who bagged 1,928,000 chips.
