Poker Rooms in Toronto [year]: Live Poker & Tournaments

Toronto is one of Canada's largest live poker markets, with 24-hour cash games, regular tournaments and additional poker options across the Greater Toronto Area.

The city's main year-round poker destination is Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, where players can find No-Limit Hold'em, Omaha and scheduled tournament poker. Players willing to travel beyond the city also have access to Pickering Casino Resort, while the CNE Casino provides an additional seasonal option during its annual operating period.

This guide covers Toronto poker rooms, cash games, tournaments and nearby GTA options. For online poker, provincial regulation and live venues elsewhere in the province, visit our poker in Ontario guide.

Poker Rooms in Toronto and the GTA

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is the main permanent poker room within Toronto itself. The wider GTA adds Pickering Casino Resort east of the city, while the Canadian National Exhibition offers seasonal poker at Exhibition Place.

Poker Room Location Poker Offering Best For
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto Toronto 24/7 Hold'em, Omaha and tournament poker Year-round Toronto poker
Pickering Casino Resort Pickering 24/7 Hold'em, Omaha and recurring tournaments GTA cash games and tournaments
CNE Casino Exhibition Place, Toronto Seasonal Texas Hold'em poker Seasonal Toronto poker

Great Canadian Toronto is the most convenient option for players specifically looking for year-round poker inside the city. Pickering is a useful alternative for players in the eastern GTA or anyone willing to travel outside Toronto for another substantial poker room.

Cash-game availability and tournament schedules can change, particularly at higher stakes, so it is worth checking the current room schedule before travelling for a specific game.

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto Poker Room

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto operates a 24-hour poker room in the Grandstand Casino. The room offers a mix of No-Limit Hold'em and Omaha alongside scheduled poker tournaments.

No-Limit Hold'em accounts for much of the regular cash-game action, with stakes ranging from lower-limit games through larger tables for more experienced players. Omaha provides another option for players who prefer four-card poker or want to play something other than Hold'em.

Cash Games at Great Canadian Toronto

    Current published games include:

    Pot-Limit Omaha $2/$2, $5/$5

    Higher Limits Available by request

The venue currently publishes a rake of 10% up to a maximum of $20, with no rake taken when a hand does not reach the flop.

Players unfamiliar with the two main formats can review our Texas Hold'em rules and Pot-Limit Omaha rules before playing.

    Toronto Poker Tournaments

Toronto players do not have to wait for a major festival to play live tournament poker.

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto runs scheduled weekend tournaments, with buy-ins, structures and formats changing throughout the year. Turbo and deepstack No-Limit Hold'em events regularly feature on the schedule.

Tournament players should check the latest calendar before visiting, as starting times, registration periods and buy-ins can change from one event to another.

For larger festivals and confirmed events elsewhere in the country, use our Canadian poker tournaments calendar.

    WSOP Circuit Toronto

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto has also hosted major WSOP Circuit festivals.

Toronto welcomed WSOP Circuit series in 2024 and 2025, bringing ring events and larger tournament fields to the city. These festivals helped establish the property as a significant tournament destination in addition to its regular cash games and weekend events.

A previous Toronto stop does not guarantee that the series will return every season, so players planning specifically around the WSOP Circuit should check the latest confirmed Canadian schedule.

Our WSOP Circuit Canada guide covers current stops, dates and tournament information.

    Pickering Casino Resort

Pickering Casino Resort is one of the strongest alternatives for poker players in the Greater Toronto Area.

Located east of Toronto, the poker room operates 24 hours a day and offers cash games alongside recurring tournaments. It is particularly useful for players living in the eastern GTA or anyone who wants another option when comparing games, stakes and tournament schedules.

Pickering offers both Hold'em and Omaha, with multiple No-Limit Hold'em stakes available throughout the room's published game selection.

    Pickering Poker Cash Games

    Current published games include:

    Game Published Stakes
    No-Limit Hold'em $1/$3, $2/$5, $5/$10, $10/$20
    Higher No-Limit Hold'em $25/$50 available by request
    Limit Omaha Half-Kill $20/$40

The room also runs recurring poker tournaments, providing another regular tournament option for players around Toronto.

For more information about the venue, poker room and casino facilities, see our Pickering Casino Resort guide.

Seasonal Poker at the CNE Casino

Toronto also has a seasonal poker option at the Canadian National Exhibition.

The CNE Casino operates for a limited period each year rather than as a permanent casino. Its poker offering has included Texas Hold'em alongside the other casino games available during the CNE season.

This makes the CNE a useful additional option for players visiting Exhibition Place during the summer, but it should not be relied on for year-round poker.

Opening dates and poker availability can change from one CNE season to the next, so players should check the current year's casino schedule before planning a visit.

What Poker Games Can You Play in Toronto?

No-Limit Texas Hold'em is the most widely available live poker format in Toronto and the surrounding GTA.

Great Canadian Toronto offers several Hold'em stakes as well as Pot-Limit Omaha and Limit Omaha. Pickering also gives players access to Hold'em and Omaha, while most scheduled local tournaments use No-Limit Hold'em.

    Common formats include:
    • No-Limit Texas Hold'em
    • Pot-Limit Omaha
    • Limit Omaha
    • Turbo No-Limit Hold'em tournaments
    • Deepstack No-Limit Hold'em tournaments
    • Higher-stakes cash games when sufficient demand is available

Not every published game will necessarily be running at every hour. Higher stakes and less common formats depend on player demand, so checking current tables before travelling can save time.

    Cash Poker in Toronto

Cash-game players have access to poker around the clock at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto.

The room's range of Hold'em stakes makes it possible to move from smaller games into substantially larger tables, while Omaha provides another option for players looking beyond standard Hold'em.

Pickering gives players another 24-hour poker room in the GTA. For some players, the decision between Toronto and Pickering will simply come down to location, while others may compare waiting lists, current stakes or which game is running at the time.

Players arriving specifically for a particular game should remember that live poker depends on table demand. A stake listed by the casino may not be active throughout the entire day.

    Tournament Poker in Toronto

Toronto's tournament poker scene includes both regular weekly events and larger festival series.

Recurring tournaments at Great Canadian Toronto make it possible to play live events without waiting for a major series, while Pickering adds additional tournament action elsewhere in the GTA.

Larger festivals can offer a very different experience, with multiple starting flights, satellites, bounty tournaments and championship events spread over several days.

Players travelling specifically for tournament poker should compare the latest venue schedules with our Canadian poker tournaments calendar before choosing their dates.

    Toronto Poker vs GTA Poker

Toronto players are not limited to venues within the city itself.

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto provides the main year-round option inside Toronto, while Pickering Casino Resort gives players another 24-hour poker room east of the city.

For players comparing the two, location may be the biggest factor, but current game availability, waiting lists, tournament schedules and preferred stakes can also influence which venue is the better choice on a particular day.

    Online Poker for Toronto Players

Toronto residents also have access to Ontario's regulated online poker market.

Ontario operates its own regulated online gambling system, which means poker availability can differ from what players see elsewhere in Canada. Ontario versions of poker platforms can have different player pools, promotions and account requirements.

Players must meet Ontario's legal gambling age and be physically located in the province when using regulated online gambling platforms.

Our poker in Ontario guide explains the provincial online poker market in more detail.

Planning a Poker Trip to Toronto

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is the most straightforward option for visitors who want year-round poker without leaving the city.

Players staying longer or travelling around the GTA can also consider Pickering Casino Resort. Having two substantial 24-hour poker rooms in the wider region gives players more flexibility when looking for a particular game or tournament.

Tournament players should check the current event schedule before booking travel. A weekend with a larger tournament series can offer significantly more action than a normal weekly schedule.

Cash-game players may also want to check current waiting lists and active games before leaving for the casino, particularly when looking for Omaha or higher stakes.

    Responsible Gambling

Live poker involves financial risk, whether you are playing a cash game, entering a weekly tournament or taking part in a larger festival.

Set a budget before visiting a poker room and include possible re-entries, travel and other costs when deciding what you can afford to spend. A tournament with multiple re-entry options can cost considerably more than its initial buy-in.

Our Responsible Gambling in Canada guide covers safer-play tools, self-exclusion and province-specific support resources.
