Poker Stars Software Overview

Even a quick look at Poker Stars' software reveals why they are industry leaders. There are twelve different kinds of poker games, the software can handle an unlimited degree of multi-table play, and there are well over a dozen supported languages. Poker Stars is the very definition of mass appeal and they've definitely rooted this identity in their software. They might not have the flashiest graphics or the most bells and whistles, but there is a reason that Poker Stars sees well over 100,000 players during peak hours.

The software itself can be installed on PC's and Macs, but Linux users are not supported. The minimum hardware requirements will vary, but everybody must have at least a 56kbps Internet connection. PC users should have a copy of Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista, or newer. On most copies of Windows, 100MHz of processing power will work, but if you have copy Vista then you should increase the minimum to 800MHz. RAM requirements range from 64MB to 512MB as you get more and more current with your operating system and everyone must have 60 MB of hard disk space for installation.

Mac players need Mac OS X 10.4.10 (Tiger) or newer. Your Mac will need a PowerPC G4, a PowerPC G5, or a Intel processor and 512 MB of RAM. At the minimum, you will need to have 100 MB of hard disk memory available and a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher.

At The Poker Table - Poker Stars Gameplay Review

The upfront appearance of Poker Stars' poker tables can be altered based on your tastes. First of all there are a dozen different background and color scheme options. As far as the avatars go, you can actually upload any picture from your computer to represent you at the table. Since you can play as many tables as you want, there is a grid mode that lets you keep track of all of the action at the same time. Within each game, you can look back at the hand history and you can even use programs like Poker Tracker for more info.

Poker Stars Interface and Other Features

Although this isn't really a feature, no other poker room has as many endorsements from professional players. Assuming you don't mind playing at some higher limit tables, there is nothing to stop you from sitting down with many of the worlds best players on Poker Stars and playing for real money as well as bragging rights. Using the Poker Stars interface, it is easy to search for these pros and to take a seat at one of their tables. Even when these big names aren't involved, the lobby system uses a set of filters to help you define exactly what games you are looking for.
