There's a lot to love about Party Poker, but their software is the cornerstone for their strong reputation among online poker players. Since this is such a major poker room, they had the resources to build their own, custom software from scratch. Windows players can download this software, but players on other operating systems like Mac and Linux aren't left out in the cold. There is a streaming version of Party Poker that works in your Internet browser and can accommodate players using every major operating system including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Because of the added convenience, this no-download version is very popular among Windows users as well.
If you choose to download the software, your computer will only need to meet a very modest level of performance. Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 are all acceptable operating systems. You should have 128 MB worth of RAM and they say your processor should be a "Pentium System", which means that just about any PC is acceptable. The download is only 7.07 MB and shouldn't take more than a a minute or two to download (and only seconds are required on a high speed connection).
Party Poker's software has all of the little extras that you'd expect. One of the best things about this package is its capacity for playing multiple games at the same time. You can have up to eighteen tables up at once and the flexible software engine can gear up to prevent any kind of lagging. Even with the maximum number of games running, all of the unique features can still be accessed. One of the most important (though not imaginative) features built into this software is the quick deposit button. While playing in a ring game, you can click the quick deposit button and a second window will appear for you to conveniently deal with the cashier mid-game.
If you know anybody who has played on Party Poker in the past, then you must have heard about the Deal Maker option. In a final-table situation, players can use the Deal Maker tool to come up with a compromise and end the game immediately. This is a great way for the top players to get their piece of the pie without a long, dragged out conclusion. For any Deal Maker deal to take place, every single player at the table must agree with the deal. Otherwise, play will continue until a winner is determined the old fashioned way. If you can't come to a conclusion at first, you can always return to the deal maker after opposing players have been eliminated.
